Best Melbourne Beach Restaurants

Do you consider yourself a ‘foodie’? Or maybe you’re celebrating an anniversary or birthday and are looking for a delicious dinner with a unique atmosphere. Here is an eclectic list of Port d’Hiver’s Best Restaurants in Melbourne Beach, FL & the surrounding area.

Medium to Fine Dining Restaurants

Café Coconut Cove – Café Coconut Cove is a family-owned German restaurant with gorgeous views of the Indian River. In addition to its savory meat-focused dishes, they have a warm, intimate atmosphere and are located about 10 minutes south of us on A1A. This past Sunday they were featured on chef Emeril Lagasse’s Florida highlights show on the Cooking Channel!

**Tip: Try the Wienerschnitzel!

Djon’s Steak and Lobster House – Most of our guests include a meal at Djon’s at least once during their stay. It has a great atmosphere (live music by way of a piano player or 3 piece jazz ensemble), a more casual patio with sunset views of the Indian River, and terrific food. Both the Manager, David, and Rebecca in the lounge keep a special eye out for Port d’Hiver guests to ensure a fabulous time! Djon’s is just a short 3 block walk from the Inn, towards the river on Ocean Avenue.

**Tip: Try their Lobster Bisque or Asparagus Salad! *Within Walking Distance

Matt’s Casbah – Matt’s Casbah has great sushi and a festive nightlife – there’s always a live band on their front porch! Matt’s is in historic downtown Melbourne, home to fun bars, shops and restaurants, and just a 10 minute drive across the river.

**Tip: Try the Monster-Hole-Bowl, which is the chef’s choice of nine sashimi items!

Scott’s on FifthThey have a small and personal atmosphere with only about 10 tables, and occasional live music. Not only is the food amazing – Scott is somewhat of a celebrity chef & used to have his own cooking show – but their staff is also attentive and accommodating, taking their cues from the charming co-owner Bill. **Tip: Try the Parmesan Crusted Salmon!

The Dove III Restaurant

The Chart House – Dine on top-of-the-catch seafood, succulent steaks, and decadent desserts while overlooking the Indian River. The Chart House also goes above and beyond for our guests – usually including a complimentary Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert! The Chart House is less than 5 miles from Port d’Hiver.

**Tip: Try the Snapper Hemmingway!

The Dove III – The Dove III has the absolute best homemade Italian cuisine in town and an intimate, dark atmosphere. Not only is their staff attentive, but even the chef has been known to make one-of-a-kind dishes special for our guests! It is also located in historic, Downtown Melbourne.

**Tip: Try the Eggplant or Veal Parmigiana!

We’d be happy to make reservations or call-ahead seating at any of the restaurants listed above – just let an Innkeeper know.

Casual Dining Restaurants

Ocean 302 Bar & Grill – Located just across the street from the Inn, Ocean 302 has received rave reviews from guests, as their diverse menu and unique specials compliment the trendy, open-kitchen concept dining room, and interesting specials including Elk at one time. You can read a review on them here, or learn a little more about their French-taught chef here.

El Ambia Cubano – This is hands down the best Cuban food, outside of Miami. Located in a quaint and charmingly ecclectic house on the Indian River, its still within walking distance to other downtown Melbourne shops and cafes. This is a Port d’Hiver favorite!

**Tip: Try the Cuban Style Roasted Pork!

Oceanside Pizza – a new, local favorite known for its pizza and hot sandwiches. They are only open until 9pm, and only serve beer and wine.

**Tip: Any one of their pizzas is well-worth the visit! *Within Walking Distance

Roburritos – Melbourne Beach’s best burritos! Owners Robb and Glenn Boykin undoubtedly bring much of the mom-and-pop café’s friendly and local charm. With its fresh ingredients, homemade salsa and guacamole recipes, and juicy, smoked beef brisket, pork, chicken or fish, their burritos can’t be duplicated or beat. Just a short 2 block walk from the Inn. Operating hours are unpredictable – check for the mannequin outside to tell if it’s open!

**Tip: Try their naked bowl with rice, black beans and the Mayan chipotle sauce or their famous slawsa! *Within Walking Distance
